0 EXT OUTSIDE OF A HOUSE
Three friends stand talking amongst themselves; one is dressed formally looking as if he’s about to go to a party. He wears a white button down shirt with black slacks and a black blazer (TOM 18). The other two dress in casual clothes standing in front of him (NICK 18, ELIZABETH 17)

NICK (confident)
Okay man you can do this!

ELIZABETH (annoyed)
You might want to bring some balls if you’re so worried though.

TOM (sarcastic)
Oh, thanks that’s just what I need at the moment a pair of balls I already have!

ELIZABETH smacks TOM across the head.

ELIZABETH (angry)
Don’t yell at me I’m here helping jackass. Do you want to look like a dumb ass in front of her?!

TOM (angry)
Of course not! It doesn’t help you insulting me though!

Nick (proud and assured)
Don’t listen to her bro she’s just angry because she doesn’t get enough hugs. You’ll do fine! I got your back! I have a back up plan just incase if something goes wrong. (Smiles)

TOM (worried)
I some how find that a bad thing...especially if YOU have a back up plan…

NICK
What is that suppose mean?! I’m like your better half, just sexier and skilled. Besides YOU specifically asked me to be here.

ELIZABETH (sarcastic)
Best idea you had all year…brilliant

NICK
See! Brilliant!

TOM
Dear god I’m doomed…

ELIZABETH rings the doorbell

ELIZABETH
Well time to find out if you really are doomed! (Smiles menacingly)

TOM (panicking)
Whoa What?! I’m not ready!

NICK
it’s to late now!

1 EXT Front Door of HOUSE
ELIZABETH and NICK push TOM to the front door as it opens. Both of them lung behind a bush near the window of the house. A young girl (AMY 18) comes to answer the door. Dressed in a nice blouse she cheerfully opens looks at TOM. In the back, a party is going on and people are mingling and having a good time. TOM blushes and starts to cough.

TOM (Nervous)
Uhhhh….

NICK (coughing)
Hi!

ELIZABETH smacks NICK across the head.

NICK (whispering in pain)
Ow, what was that for?!

ELIZABETH places her finger over her mouth violently.

NICK (whispering)
bitch...

ELIZABETH pops her knuckles. NICK smiles awkwardly fearing for his life.

TOM
Hi.

AMY
Hey! Come on in! Join the party

TOM (happy)
I surely will.

2 INT LIVING ROOM OF THE HOUSE
Loud music is roaring through the house as the groups of people dance around. People are eating, drinking, and having a good time. TOM and AMY are across the room talking to a group of their friends. Outside of the house NICK is sleeping on ELIZABETH. Drool runs down his mouth and on to her shoulder. She punches him in the nose.

NICK (drowsy and excited)
Did he do it Mommy?!

ELIZABETH (angry and nervous)
I’m not your mother you dweeb! And he’s about to do it look

NICK (Menacingly happy)
Do I detect a hint of jealously?!

ELIZABETH (pissed off)
Shut up!

She punches NICK and then points at the TOM who’s approaching AMY during the party. They both switch on their earphones and point the radar at the two’s conversation.

TOM (nervous)
Hey Amy!

AMY (happy)
Oh Hey! I’m so glad you came to the party! I’m going to miss you when you go to New York! It won’t be the same without you.

TOM (nervously happy)
Yeah it was I’m glad I came.

AMY
It sucks you have to leave so early though. I wish we could hang out for the summer

TOM
Yeah I’m sorry

AMY
Hey don’t be! I hate it when people apologize for something they didn’t do! You should be happy that you get to go to New York City! We’ve gotten so close these last few days of high school.

TOM (nervous)
Yeah! I want to give you something

TOM holding a package

TOM
It’s important and I hope you understand.

AMY (sympathetic)
Aw Tom you shouldn’t have!

3 EXT OUTSIDE IN BUSH
NICK gets excited and puts up his hand for a high five. ELIZABETH looks at NICK with a glare. NICK senses the hostility and puts his hand down in shame. His excitement isn’t contained and he jumps up in excitement.

NICK (excited)
Aw, snap that’s my boy! Go in for the kiss!

ELIZABETH grabs NICK by the ear and yanks him to the ground

ELIZABETH (blushing)
Shut up!

NICK
That’s it man! Remain cool ask her…just ask her!

4 INT LIVING ROOM OF THE HOUSE

AMY
What is it that you want to tell me?

TOM freezes

TOM (nervously)
Uhhh….

AMY (confused)
Um Tom, are you okay?

TOM looks like he’s having a seizure. His thoughts race through what he wants to say to AMY but he can’t move his mouth. NICK sees this and starts top pull out gadgets from his bag.

ELIZABETH (confused and scared)
What the hell are you doing?!

NICK
My job woman!

NICK pulls out some orb like object things. Back inside TOM is still froze in his place. He starts to jumble words together that don’t make sense.

TOM (robot)
Me….Like….hair…of your…sort

AMY
What?

TOM (robot nervously)
Hair….you…funny….you…cute…

AMY (scared)
Tom, are you okay?

NICK (yelling)
Abort mission it’s no good!!! Release the smoke bombs!!!

ELIZABETH (panicking and confused)
Smoke bomb? Smoke bomb?! Nick no you dumb ass!

NICK
We pull him out in three after I throw in the bombs!

ELIZABETH
No you idiot!!!

NICK
Three!!!

NICK chunks smoke bomb at window. The bomb bounces back into the bush. He panics and punches the window out and throws the bag of smoke bombs in. They all scatter around the bottom floor of the house. Erupting from the shell casing smoke covers the bottom floor of the house. People begin screaming and coughing.

NICK
Ninja Reflexes Go!!!!

ELIZABETH smacks her forehead and dives out of the bush. NICK dramatically kicks down the front door. He goes in commando crawling on the floor in between people’s legs as they cough and fall onto the ground. They scream in pain as they hit the floor.

TOM (coughing confused)
Nick, did you do this?!

NICK
I’m pulling you out! Mission Failed! Mission Failed! I’m extracting the subject now!

TOM
Whoa what?! Wait No! Nick Stop!!!

NICK latches onto TOM and pulls him down to the ground. Grabbing him by the legs he rushes both of them out of the house. He runs into furniture being dragged out of the hous.

TOM (yelling and angry)
No! Nick! Niiiiiiiiiiiick!!!!

5 EXT OUTSIDE ON STREET
Dragging TOM out of the house NICK continues to drag him out onto the street and back home. TOM drags his face across the street pavement as he’s crying in pain emotionally and physically. ELIZABETH runs up from behind them and follows. From that day forth TOM and NICK go to New York City. They both lose track of ELIZABETH and TOM never sees AMY again.

EDIT: I started the original run of RoomMates about a year ago and is still posted on my Deviant Art account. The original series was created on an idea from watching a few of my favorite sitcoms. I couldn’t resist putting a few elements of supernatural events but when I put it in the story started taking a strange turn. I’ve been wanting rewrite the story that it has a few elements of everything I’ve been wanting to write for the series. Rewriting this story I hope to have my vision incorporated with everything I was trying to aim for at the beginning of my original writing.

The song is a duet between the two band’s The Rentals and Asian Kung-Fu Generation ( my favorite Japanese Rock band) I know it’s kind of strange to use a foreign song for an opening to a pretty Americanized screenplay but I find the song to fit the idea of the show.
